VO2 Max
The maximum amount of oxygen your body can use during intense exercise.
VO2 max is the gold standard measure of cardiovascular fitness, representing the maximum volume of oxygen your body can consume during maximal exercise. It is influenced by genetics, training, and age. Higher VO2 max indicates better endurance capacity. It can be improved through consistent aerobic and interval training.
Examples
- Elite endurance athletes: 70-80+ ml/kg/min
- Average adult: 35-45 ml/kg/min
- Measured via exercise testing or estimated
