Anaerobic Exercise

High-intensity exercise where the body cannot supply enough oxygen, using stored energy.

Anaerobic exercise operates without adequate oxygen, relying on stored ATP and glycogen for energy. It can only be sustained for short periods (seconds to 2 minutes). Examples include sprinting, heavy lifting, and HIIT. Anaerobic training builds strength, power, and high-intensity work capacity.

Examples

  • Maximum effort sprints
  • Heavy weight lifting sets
  • All-out effort intervals
