Mobility
The ability to move a joint actively through its full range of motion with control.
Mobility is active, controlled movement through a range of motion - it combines flexibility with strength and control. Unlike passive flexibility (where external force creates the stretch), mobility requires you to actively move into positions. Good mobility enables proper exercise technique, reduces injury risk, and improves athletic performance.
Examples
- Hip mobility for deep squats
- Thoracic mobility for overhead movements
- Ankle mobility for front squats
