LISS (Low-Intensity Steady State)

Sustained, low-intensity cardio exercise performed for extended periods.

LISS is continuous cardio at a moderate, sustainable intensity, typically 50-65% of max heart rate. Examples include walking, light jogging, or cycling for 30-60 minutes. LISS is easier to recover from than HIIT, making it suitable for rest days or high-frequency training. It primarily burns fat for fuel and builds aerobic base.

Examples

  • 45-minute brisk walk
  • Light cycling at conversational pace
  • Swimming laps at moderate effort
