Cool-Down
Low-intensity activity performed after a workout to aid recovery.
A cool-down helps your body transition from exercise to rest. It typically involves 5-10 minutes of light cardio followed by static stretching. This promotes blood circulation (aiding waste removal), gradually reduces heart rate, and may help reduce muscle soreness. While less critical than warming up, a cool-down can enhance recovery and flexibility.
Examples
- 5 minutes of walking after intense exercise
- Static stretching for major muscle groups
- Foam rolling post-workout
