Autoregulation
Adjusting training based on daily readiness and performance rather than fixed percentages.
Autoregulation means adapting your training based on how you feel and perform each day, rather than following rigid predetermined weights. Using RPE or velocity-based training allows you to push harder on good days and back off on bad days. This individualized approach can improve long-term progress and reduce injury risk.
Examples
- Working to RPE 8 instead of fixed 80% 1RM
- Adjusting weight based on warm-up feel
- AMRAP sets for auto-regulated volume
