Pectorals (Pecs)
The chest muscles responsible for pushing movements and arm adduction.
The pectoralis major is the large chest muscle, with the pectoralis minor lying beneath it. The pec major has two heads: the clavicular (upper) and sternal (lower). Pressing movements like bench press and push-ups target the chest. Varying the angle (incline, flat, decline) emphasizes different portions of the muscle.
Examples
- Bench press builds pec size and strength
- Incline press targets upper chest
- Flyes isolate the pectorals
