HRV (Heart Rate Variability)
The variation in time between consecutive heartbeats, an indicator of recovery.
Heart rate variability measures the variation in time intervals between heartbeats. Higher HRV generally indicates better recovery and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) nervous system activity. Lower HRV can indicate stress, illness, or incomplete recovery. Many athletes track HRV to guide training intensity.
Examples
- Measured in milliseconds
- Higher = better recovery state
