Forced Reps
Having a spotter assist to complete additional reps beyond failure.
Forced reps occur when a training partner provides just enough assistance to complete reps after you have reached muscular failure. This extends the set beyond what you could do alone, increasing intensity. Use sparingly as forced reps accumulate significant fatigue and can impair recovery if overused.
Examples
- Reaching failure at 8 reps, partner helps for 2 more
- Partner provides minimal assistance needed
- Best used on final set only
