BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)
The calories burned at complete rest to maintain basic body functions.
Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the energy expended at complete rest for essential functions: breathing, circulation, cell production, and maintaining body temperature. BMR accounts for 60-75% of total daily energy expenditure. It is influenced by body composition, age, sex, and genetics. More muscle mass increases BMR.
