RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate)
Similar to BMR but measured under less strict resting conditions.
Resting metabolic rate (RMR) is the energy expended at rest under less stringent conditions than BMR measurement. RMR is typically 10-20% higher than BMR and is more commonly measured clinically. For practical purposes, BMR and RMR are often used interchangeably, though technically different.
Examples
- Measured after resting, not fasting
- Slightly higher than BMR
- More practical to measure
