Plyometrics
Explosive exercises using the stretch-shortening cycle to develop power.
Plyometrics involve rapid stretching followed by powerful concentric contraction, utilizing the stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) and elastic energy. Examples include jump squats, box jumps, and medicine ball throws. Plyometrics develop explosive power, rate of force development, and reactive ability. They require adequate strength foundation and should progress gradually.
