Ligament
Connective tissue that connects bone to bone, stabilizing joints.
Ligaments are tough bands of connective tissue that connect bones and provide joint stability. Unlike tendons, ligaments don't contract - they passively limit joint movement. Ligament injuries (sprains) are common and heal slowly due to limited blood supply. Training can improve ligament strength, but direct ligament loading is limited.
Examples
- ACL stabilizes the knee
- Ligament sprains from overstretching
- Slow healing due to poor blood supply
