Whey Protein
A fast-digesting, complete protein derived from milk, popular as a supplement.
Whey protein is a milk-derived protein that is rapidly digested and high in leucine, making it excellent for post-workout consumption. It comes in concentrate (cheaper, 70-80% protein), isolate (>90% protein, lower lactose), and hydrolysate (pre-digested) forms. Whey is not necessary if you get enough protein from food.
Examples
- Fast-digesting, high in leucine
- Concentrate vs isolate vs hydrolysate
- Convenient but not necessary
