Tendons
Tough connective tissue that attaches muscles to bones.
Tendons are dense, fibrous tissue connecting muscles to bones, transmitting force to create movement. They adapt more slowly than muscles, which is why ramping up training gradually is important. Tendon injuries (tendinitis, tears) are common in strength training and require adequate recovery and gradual progression.
Examples
- Achilles tendon connects calf to heel
- Adapt slower than muscle
- Patellar tendon below the kneecap
