Omega-6 Fatty Acids
Essential polyunsaturated fats that can be pro-inflammatory in excess.
Omega-6 fatty acids are essential but tend to be consumed in excess in modern diets through vegetable oils and processed foods. While necessary for health, high omega-6 to omega-3 ratios may promote inflammation. The goal is not to eliminate omega-6 but to improve the ratio by increasing omega-3 intake.
Examples
- Found in vegetable oils, nuts
- Abundant in processed foods
- Aim for better omega-6:omega-3 ratio
