Olympic Lifting

A strength sport consisting of two lifts: the snatch and the clean and jerk.

Olympic weightlifting involves lifting maximum weights overhead in two movements: the snatch (one continuous motion to overhead) and the clean and jerk (two-phase lift). It requires explosive power, mobility, and technical precision. Olympic lifting develops full-body power and is incorporated into many athletic training programs.

Examples

  • Snatch: ground to overhead in one movement
  • Clean and jerk: clean to shoulders, then jerk overhead
  • Requires exceptional mobility and technique
