Nutrient Timing

The strategic consumption of nutrients around workouts for performance and recovery.

Nutrient timing refers to eating specific nutrients at specific times to optimize performance and recovery. While the post-workout anabolic window has been overstated, eating protein every 3-5 hours and having carbs before intense training can benefit performance. For most, total daily intake matters more than timing.

Examples

  • Protein distributed across 4-5 meals
  • Carbs before intense training
  • Total intake matters most
