Heart Rate
The number of times your heart beats per minute.
Heart rate measures cardiovascular effort and is used to gauge exercise intensity. Resting heart rate indicates fitness level (lower is generally better). Training heart rate zones help target different adaptations, from fat burning to VO2 max improvement. Heart rate monitors allow precise intensity management.
Examples
- Resting heart rate: 60-80 bpm average
- Training in target heart rate zones
- Lower resting HR indicates fitness
