Cutting

A phase of calorie deficit to reduce body fat while maintaining muscle.

Cutting is a fat loss phase where you eat fewer calories than you burn while maintaining training intensity and high protein intake to preserve muscle. A moderate deficit (500 calories) and slower weight loss (0.5-1% bodyweight per week) helps preserve muscle mass. Cutting phases follow bulking phases to reveal the muscle built.

Examples

  • 500 calorie deficit while keeping protein high
  • Losing 0.5-1% bodyweight per week
  • Cutting for 8-12 weeks
