Calorie Deficit

Consuming fewer calories than your body burns, leading to weight loss.

A calorie deficit is the fundamental requirement for weight loss. When you consume less energy than you expend, your body uses stored energy (body fat) to make up the difference. A deficit of 500 calories per day typically results in about 1 pound of fat loss per week. Creating a sustainable deficit through diet and exercise is key to long-term success.

Examples

  • Eating 2,000 calories when burning 2,500
  • 500 calorie deficit for 1lb/week loss
  • Using a food scale for accurate tracking
