Accommodating Resistance
Using bands or chains to match resistance to the strength curve.
Accommodating resistance uses bands or chains to increase resistance where you are strongest (typically lockout) and decrease it where you are weakest (bottom position). This more closely matches your strength curve, allowing maximum tension throughout the entire range of motion. Popular in powerlifting for developing speed and strength through sticking points.
Examples
- Bench press with chains
- Banded squats
- Reverse bands for overload at lockout
