Anatomy
Triceps
The three-headed muscle on the back of the upper arm responsible for elbow extension.
The triceps brachii has three heads: long, lateral, and medial. They make up about two-thirds of upper arm size, so tricep development is crucial for big arms. Pressing movements like bench press and overhead press work triceps, while extensions and dips provide targeted training. The long head crosses the shoulder joint and benefits from overhead work.
Examples
- Close-grip bench press for triceps
- Overhead extensions target the long head
- Tricep pushdowns isolate the triceps
